A Syrian Solution and Beyond

After spending considerable thought and in consultation with our cat Lamont, I think I have come up a solution as to what we should do in lieu of the attacking Syria. We are war weary and most folk don’t seem too excited about engaging in another conflict in the Middle East, so here is my alternate solution.

We should declare war on ourselves. Now hear me out; in Syria there are two whacko groups fighting for control of the country, so, which ever prevails, the place is still a mess, which it has been for centuries on end (read a little history or go to Bill Moyers site for a summary.)

The moral dilemma is as in all these cases; do we need and have the right to interfere in the actions of an independent country that is doing an evil to its people? And practically, can we afford to be the world’s police?

I think most folk realize that we have rationalized excuses in the Middle East for these “police actions” because of money – oil money. It has been in our vested interest to have a strong influence in the oil producers in the Middle East.

As to the evil being perpetrated on their citizens by evil leaders (we back more dictators that you can count), we didn’t use those arguments when genocide was being practiced in Africa – no money interests.

Back to my premise we should we should invade ourselves. In Syria, as I said we have two intractable extreme groups where no good can come from either side being in control of the government. The same is true of our country. We are governed by the extreme groups of politicians that no longer show interest in being public servants and doing what is best for the common good of its citizens, but cater to the big money and push their interests. Gridlock ensues and nothing gets done for the common good and the governmental leaders even threaten to shut the government down as though that would do any good. Instead we keep taking money away from those in need, have a minimum wage that is years out of date while the rich get richer.

So, let’s declare war on ourselves. We need an army of citizens rising up, preferably non-violently, to confront our own evils and replace congressional members of your be been bought lock, stock and barrel, by the 1%. Would not such an action stimulate our economy, redistribute wealth back to a fairer basis, and united ad divided country?

Think of it as a win win war for the majority of our citizens. Of course, if such a war was fought and won, it would become corrupted all over again, and war would have to be fought against, but didn’t the founding fathers understand that and it is part of the American way.
