Voter ID

I like the line in Bill Moyer’s blog which says, “the fight against voter fraud is a solution in search of a problem. – these days, documented instances are virtually non-existant.”

Didn’t one of you commenter’s say recently that there is one place where there are only 4 days in a year where one group in our country can register to vote?

Yet voter registration remains on the Republican agenda since 2010. Photo IDs that is that are often to hard or too expensive to get.

This week on Moyers show he will be talking to Keesha Gaskins and Michael Waldman of the Brennan Center for Justice that these requirements are “thinly-veiled attempts to keep the young, elderly, minorities and poor from exercising their basic right as citizens.

I rather like it here where we live. You can bring a utility bill, drivers license or if the poll folk just look up and recognize you and you go vote. Our first year here, they said, “who are you?” We told them and they know us now.

  1. When the number of legitimate citizens are denied access to vote surpasses the number of
fraudulent votes, voting law becomes voter suppression.
