Legitimate Rape?!?

I am not one of those people who categorically condemn all politicians even if it is a popular thing to do. It is simplistic, scapecoating and doesn’t help anything. I know several congressmen I consider excellent: the outgoing senator from Wisconsin Herb Kohl, previous senator Russ Feingold, Iowa senator Tom Harkin, Elizabeth Warren it a model for all, Tammy Baldwin and a number of others that truly seem to understand what public service is all about.

But then today I received a ton of emails that give rise to such universal condemnation of congressman, to whit ~ Todd Atkin Republican candidate for Senate in Missouri believes that a woman can’t get pregnant “if it’s legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” Such statements make you believe in zombies and other forms of the living dead or at least brain dead. Good Lord in heaven where did this Neanderthal come from; I take that back, it’s insulting to Neanderthals.

Here are other beliefs of mental challenged bonehead: he believes that the “Pilgrims fled England to avoid socialism.” He doesn’t believe that atheists or agnostics are fit to serve in the armed forces. He opposes school lunches because “the federal government should be out of the education business.” He likes to joke and laugh about lynchings. And he thinks Medicare is unconstitutional.

If OpenSecrets.org is to be believed he has received for the year 2010 PAC money totaling $285,894. And $337,859 for 2012 the biggest contributors were for defense. What are the defending against? Intelligence? However, the GOP chair John Cornyn (R-Tex) informed Rep. Todd Akin on Monday that the national GOP will not spend money to help elect him to the senate. Cornyn also stated that he endangers other Republicans hopes of retaking the majority in the Senate.

He must make the Tea-Party proud. And he has pledge to remain in the race. Everyone else must just be shaking their heads in wonder.

  1. Atkin also observed, "Well, I think NBC has a long record of being very liberal, and at the heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God and a belief that government should replace God." He has Masters in Divinity from Covenant
    in St. Louis...

  2. Incredibly, this guy is on the 'science and technology' committee, of all things. Someone needs to tell him how much more common rape-induced pregnancy is than, say, voter impersonation fraud.

How do people like this even function in society, let alone get elected to public office?

I'm surprised you said something like this. Conservatives and Tea Party types are lining up against him.

"How do people like this even function in society, let alone get elected to public office?"

The Vice President, with his speech in Virginia is more evidence of this. He claimed he was in North Carolina, claimed Romney specifically said something about Wall Street that he never actually said, talked like an 8th grade dropout who had fallen off the turnip truck, and made his famous "chains" gaffe. Not near as bad as Akin, but still stupid and ignorant in every way.

And Joe Biden is still a liver-beat away from the Pepsidentcy. If by some chance Pres. Osama leaves office sometime before his term expires in 1962.

    1. You want to know what make the Tea Party proud?
A very right wing fellow, a line worker I talked with until he would get moronic, was a loyal, albeit marginal worker. Ran into him a couple months back and he was in a euphoric mood: he had finally gotten full time disability! Asked
him what he was going to do with his time and he
answered that now he could devote most of it to
leadership in the local tea party. (I may join
the TP, if they will cut all SSI and send the lazy bast**d back to work)

Sounds like a perfect union man, too. Above average workers have their wages dragged down by the deadweight; without the unions they would be paid more (and the deadweight would be fired).
