Where was that Act when I needed it? We adopted a kitten named Mikey from the Humane bunch; he was found in a shoebox in the hot summer parking lot of Walmart. His baggage included a severe eye infection. After months of treatment with the University Veterinary Opthamology vet, they finally removed the eye. (various photomicrographs of the problem became part of a grant proposal). That year, his medical $$ were more than his owners! He turned out to be a fine pet and a great addition to the household....but we call Mikey 'J. Paul Kitty' behind his back....
J. Paul Kitty reminds me of a cat we had we named Carrie Chapman Catt who disdained human contact most of her life. But she did like hiding behind doors and taking a swipe at me with her paw as I passed by. One day as I passed by the door she was hiding behind she jumped out on her hind legs, front paws in the air, ears flattened and hissing frighteningly; she looked a miniature black bear. I fell on the floor laughing. I miss her.
