One day the disciples of Jesus were debating the right to carry
swords with them and when and whether to use them.
Judas and Simon who were Zealots who advocated violent overthrow of
the government. Judas told their fellow disciples, “Hey, I think there is a
right to carry law, so feel free to carry a sword in your belt and if you see one
of those no good Samaritans, follow him because you know he will be up to no
good. Then yell to a centurion 'I’m afraid for my life,' this is legalese as to get by with this. Then kill the
Samaritan with you sword. Next, tell the centurion that he hit you and you were
very frightened.
“Judas continued, “If you end up before Pilate or any other judge I
am sure he will find you innocent because you are a member of his lineage. Oops,
wait a minute, we’re not Roman’s. We’re may be on dangerous ground here and
there are higher courts that may not approve of what you have just done.”
After listening to this debate Jesus said, “Give this a little more
thought I have this to tell you: In my kingdom, which you should be trying to
replicate here on earth, you will be blessed if you are a peacemaker. If
someone smacks you in the face let him have another shot at you - forget the
eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth bit or you’ll’ll end up blind and
toothless. Don’t reciprocate evil for evil; if you live by the sword there is a
very good chance you will die from a sword. If an evil thing is done to you don’t
repay it with another evil. Here it is in a nutshell, just love everyone
neighbor or enemy as yourself. This will work if you do it. It’s what I do and
I expect you as my followers to do the same. You probably won’t make the news,
but the world will be a better place.
