A Response to Right Wing Doggeral

The following piece is one of those internet send-a-longs with loads of mindless rhetoric, no facts substantiated lacking in reason and logic but full of emotional triggers and fear evokers that the extreme right is famous for producing. I have taken all the large letters and odd spacing out of it and large type set away for easier reading.

Following it is my bit of humorous prose that deals with each point. The bracketed material is my comments on the lack of sense for each line.

If you buy all that illogical rhetoric you are unlikely change your mind by fact or humor; but hopeful it will give you pause.

We Are getting old and our tickers aren't what they used to be...so Here is Our Special Bucket List for 2014...   [“we” only some of we at most.]

 
HERE IS ALL WE WANT...

1. Obama: Gone! [no reason, so you can just assume bigotry]
 
2. Put "GOD" back In America !!!   [Sheer hubris to say we can put God anywhere.]
 
3. Borders: Closed!  [Which boarders to which people, just a bit of scapegoating]
   
4. Congress: On the same retirement & healthcare plans as everybody else .  [Shows little under standing of the Health Care Act and congressional entitlements]

5. Congress: Obey its own Laws NOW! [Duh, anything specific here?]
   
6. Language:English only!   [Why? In all practically we have never had an official language nor does it seem needed]
   
7. Culture: Constitution, and The Bill of Rights!  [A bunch of flaming non sequiturs meaning what?]
   
8. Drug Free:Mandatory Drug Screening before & during Welfae! [Any studies to show this would have any effect on anything and why just welfare recipients? This would also increase government size to accomplish which is generally at odds with folk fostering this point of view.]
   
9. NO freebies To Non-Citizens [Again, specifics and how about all those who pay taxes, soc. Sec. etc and do not receive benefits because they are not legal?]
   
10. Balance the budget.   [Why, we have know for years that the best way to manage an economy from taking a roller coaster ride as it did in the 19^th C. is for government not to balance the budget.]
 
11. Stop giving away our Money to foreign countries! Charge them for our help! We need it here. [How much do we give away and is it only for altruistic reasons but for vested self-interest. The Marshal Plan following WWII was so we would have trading partners. More stomping on the have nots.]
 
12. Fix the TAX CODE!   [They are not serious about this at all, as the tax code favors the wealthy and has caused the redistribution of wealth over the last 30 plus yearsl; it is reverse socialism.]

And most of all.  
 
13. "RESPECT OUR MILITARY AND OUR FLAG!!"  [Strangely those who say things like this such as the current Republican congress are the first to throw our veterans under the bus.]
  
We The people are coming!  [Again, who is the “we”?]

Only 86% Will send this o.   Should Be a 100%. What Will you do? [Made up numbers.]
 
Please Send it on if only to One person.  
 
In GOD We TRUST  [What has this to do with the above? If they trust in God, it would seem sensible to do the things God’s tells us to do in terms of caring for others rather than just looking out for one on self interests.]

So, here is my humorous verse response.

For those who brains are not yet dead

What you should want is a congress led

by our elected president, Obama, one they should heed,

for on the own their do no deed.

You cannot put God back in America

Any more that you can put God anywhere at all

But if we seek to follow the God of all

Bigoted statements start to fall.

Borders are just some lines on maps

If closed who would work while others nap

Loose rhetoric just makes a sap

Of those who say “don’t do that.”

For those who do not like the healthcare plan

Should not complain what they do not understand

For while congressmen may keep their incumbent plans

So can we, they are not much different from your plan in hand.

Congress should indeed obey the laws like me and you

But so should the Koch brothers too

As well as bankers and those in Who’s who.

Even supreme judges should know

Coporations as persons? No, no, nanu.

English is the US language de facto

Though no language is official, ho

The real language we will speak

Is the one that makes the dough for those less meek.

Culture: constitution, and Bill of Rights

Seems a nonsense blur of wordy trite

Though the founding father’s work was small

It should be followed by one and all.

If we require drug screening for those who receive the government funds

Everyone you know will be peeing including those getting retirement refunds.

But if you get a DUI

We’ll just wink and close an eye.

What are the freebies do non-citizens earn

While the lobby hireing self-righteous, get subsidies to burn.

A balanced budget the economy will not fix

Leaving the laissez faire 19^th century made this country tick.

And at whose party lays the debt blame

Republicans hang you heads in shame.

If your history you do know

We only give as we sow

To reap rewards

For our economy to grow.

And if you want the tax code fair

Then tax the wealthy their fair share,

For they take from those they blame

Redistributing the wealth for their own gain.

For those who chant and salute with false pride

Do not pass legislation to care for those who serve

How can you salute the flag that fly

And leave our veterans hang out to dry.

If you love your country and follow God,

Then tread the roads that Jesus trod.

Do not condemn those he cared for and took in

with self-righteous Pharisaic sin.
