Pee in a Cup

Most folk have heard of proposed legislation to have welfare recipients be drug tested before they are allowed to have welfare payments. It was even enacted down here in Florida before the courts threw it out as blatantly unconstitutional.

However, maybe it has merits. State Democratic representative Scott Holcomb from Georgia presented legislation that would require local congressmen the same test. A spokesman for Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) said he would be willing to do so, but when someone from the Daily Show gave him a pee cup he refused to use it. Politicians have continued to support such inane legislation to folk they don’t trust.

Okay, let’s pass a constitutional amendment that all politicians should have to pee in a cup on a daily basis in order to continue to lead us. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. With all the whacky ideas being put forth by politicians it does make one wonder if they all are on something. I suspect inertia drugs as they really quit doing things. Of course, if passed it is likely a special interest lobbyist group will likely get a contract that each cup cost $1,000 and the testing thousands more.

Or perhaps that will be a new requirement for voting. Come to the polls and pee in a cup in order to vote. Gosh, the possibilities seem limitless. Maybe that is what the friend meant when he said to Benjamin in The Graduate “Plastics Benjamin, plastics!”

  1. There's a rather high percentage of drug criminals, and I don't see any reason why these dope fiends need handouts. But I do agree that "pee in a cup" is invasive.
